Could Try A Rain Dance

Well, it's the middle of September and still so dry here in the fens. The weather is meant  to rain in the coming week and boy do we need it. In the last two weeks I've managed a few fungi trips, Thetford Forest, Shouldham Warren and even Snettisham wood and all are very dry and longing for rain to start the autumn fungi popping up.

Thetford Forest is as always still producing but nowhere near what there should be in the month of September. Two days ago I spent two nice hours at Thetford exploring a bit further into the forest and found an abundance of Yellow Staghorn, which is a good sign that the autumn fungi are on their way.

I must admit I love Yellow Staghorn, the way you spot it's beautiful yellow orange horns in even the darkest of forests. Its like mother nature placing little lights that lead us towards those mystical moss-covered corners in which the tiny eyes of the wood can watch our reaction when we unearth those magical places they call home.
